If you want to apply for a PhD at King’s College London and your country of domicile is PR China, you may be eligible for the King’s-China Scholarship Council (K-CSC) programme.
Up to 100 scholarships are available at King’s College London for 2020-21 entry and the award is valid for up to 48 months of study. King’s covers the full tuition fees for each successful PhD student and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) contributes to the living costs in London.
How to Apply:
1. By the deadline of 23:59 GMT on 5 January 2020, apply to King’s College London for a full- time MPhil/PhD degree programme with a 2020-21 start date (i.e. from 1 October 2020) using the King’s online admissions application (https://apply.kcl.ac.uk/). Applications must include the name of your proposed supervisor and be complete with the relevant supporting documentation.
2. Ensure you tick the box at item 5 (Award Scheme Code or Name) and enter the code: 2021- KCSC (copy and paste this code exactly) on the funding part of your KCL Application Form.
3. Ensure you have submitted proof of English language proficiency to the admissions office by
9:00am GMT on 20 January 2020.
4. Ensure your referees have provided King’s with your supporting references by 9:00am GMT on 20 January 2020.
5. Submit a separate application to the CSC by its stated deadline and following the local application procedures in China. Note that the local CSC application process is completely separate to King’s processes and their deadlines may differ from King’s College London.

Academic entry requirements:
• A minimum of a 2:1 first degree in a relevant subject or equivalent (approx 80% - 85% from a good Chinese university)

Finding a Project or Supervisor:
A catalogue of supervisors at King’s will be available online to help you identify an academic with relevant research interests. Alternatively, you can browse through the King’s research portal: https://kclpure.kcl.ac.uk/portal/.
English Language Requirements:
• You must meet the English language requirement by 9am GMT on 20 January 2020

Documents to include with all PhD applications:
• A copy of your CV
• 2 academic references which need to be provided by your referees by 9am GMT on 20 January 2020
• Copies of transcripts for UG and PG study and degree certificates (along with official English translations)
• English Language Certificate (such as IELTS or TOEFL)
Other documents that may be required:
• Research proposal (only needed for certain faculties; check online prospectus)
• Personal statement (only needed for certain faculties; check online prospectus)
• Written sample of work (only needed for some programmes; check online prospectus)
Selection process:
1) Following an internal review process, the faculties at King’s College London will evaluate and shortlist candidates
2) By 9am GMT on 4th March 2020, the Centre for Doctoral Studies will provide the China Scholarship Council with the shortlist of students we are willing to accept and sponsor
3) Final decisions will be made by the China Scholarship Council who will draw up a list of awardees and send it to the Centre for Doctoral Studies (around May/early June)
4) You will then be notified by the Centre for Doctoral Studies whether you have been successful
