Global & Comparative Law系列课程之《国际娱乐法》即将开讲!本次课程由美国洛约拉大学宋海燕(Dr. Seagull, Haiyan Song)教授讲授。她将结合自己的从业经验和学术研究,具体介绍和比较中美两国娱乐法之间的异同,以增进法学院学生对这一领域的理解。
一、课程介绍与时间安排
The entertainment industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and it is increasingly global. For example, co-productions have grown dramatically, and they have incorporated international components, including money from Chinese investors, talents from Hollywood, and scripts from France. This course will analyze various legal issues in cross-border transactions in the entertainment industry, such as copyright law, trademark law, privacy, right of publicity, defamation, and IP licensing from a comparative perspective. At the end of the course, we will also briefly talk about film co-productions and movie finance.

二、讲座学者信息
Dr. Seagull Haiyan Song is a visiting Associate Professor of Law at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles and a renowned legal expert in the field of US-China intellectual property law. She is also a Guest Professor at Peking University School of Transnational Law and Renmin University of China Intellectual Property Academy.
Before joining the academic world in 2012, Dr. Song was a former Senior Counsel with Disney, overseeing the company’s intellectual property division in the Asia Pacific region, former consultant with Arnold & Porter LLP, and also former partner with King and Wood PRC Lawyers, heading the intellectual property practice of the firm’s Shanghai Office. Dr. Song has practiced intellectual property law in Mainland China, Hong Kong and the United States for almost twenty years. She had been acclaimed as the “Asia Law Leading Lawyer” in the field of intellectual property law for five consecutive years since 2006. Dr. Song is an Asia 21 Fellow, Board Director and Executive Committee member of Asia Society Southern California Center. Dr. Song also sits on the Advisory Board of China Intellectual Property Law Committee and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Copyright Society of the U.S.
Dr. Song has published numerous books and articles in the field of US-China intellectual property law. Her recent books include:Selected Chinese Patent Cases, co-translator and editor (Wolters Kluwer, 2014), Entertainment Law (TheCommercial Press, 2014), New Challenges of Chinese Copyright Law (Kluwer Law International, 2011), etc. Dr. Song is also one of the five participating U.S. experts in the 2013 US-China IP Dialogue White Paper, co-released by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Renmin University of China.
Dr. Song received her first LL.M (Master Degree of Law) from Hong Kong University, her second LL.M and J.S.D (Doctorate of the Science of Law) from University of California, Berkeley School of Law. She is admitted to the Bar of People’s Republic of China and the California Bar of the United States.
